In honor of the 80th Anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge in the Winter of 1944-45, the American Heritage Museum proudly hosted both Allied and Axis re-enactors in our new wooded encampment area on December 28th and 29th for the Battle of the Bulge History Experience Weekend for visitors to travel back in time to get a small taste of what the conditions might have been for troops who were under siege in the Ardennes region with dwindling supplies in freezing conditions as German forces surrounded them. There is no re-enactment that could ever accurately portray the terrible conditions and the struggles that soldiers went through over those harrowing weeks, but it was our hope to give visitors a glimpse.

Volunteers from the American Heritage Museum worked in the cold over two weeks prior to the event to prepare the trails, dig foxholes and encampments, and build loading stairs for guests to board and disembark from the M3 Half Tracks being used as shuttles to the site from the museum. If it wasn’t for them, the event would never have taken place. Thank you to our team!

And a huge THANK YOU goes out to our hardy re-enactors and dedicated volunteers who braved the cold and muddy conditions over the weekend to bring the woods back eight decades. Your enthusiasm is very much appreciated! And finally, thank you to our guests who took part over this weekend and helped us make the first-ever cold weather outdoor event a great success. We know that the muddy conditions and the lines were challenging at times, but we appreciate your support and hope everyone had an educational and entertaining time.
